Video: The dark side of chocolate

 

Slavery is no longer legal, but in developing countries slavery, child labor and human trafficking are still ever present in the cocoa industry. The Ivory Coast and Ghana are the largest cocoa producers in the world and Africa as a whole is responsible for two-thirds of the world’s cocoa production. Even though Western cocoa processors promised in 2001 to eradicate child trafficking and child labor by 2008, these abuses still go on today and the industry is largely in denial.
