Shareable is a network organization, established in the USA in 2009, that promotes the art of sharing. The organization does so by writing about projects in the sharing economy approach, and by helping to create new projects and partnerships worldwide. In the spring of 2014, ‘Shareable’ organized a global "Sharing Fest" in more than 50 cities.

Solidarity, cooperation, care for the earth and the environment; a fair distribution of wealth, resources, food and knowledge, are the core values of this global movement. Shareable wants to show that sharing helps to create a world based on cooperation and equality. According to Shareable, the Sharing Economy is a great tool to fight poverty and inequality. The recipe is simple but effective: "If each of us is willing to start sharing knowledge and goods, mountains can be moved."

Shareable emphasizes not only the material benefits of sharing, but also the psychological benefits: "Anyone who is willing to share, soon discovers the value of it. Sharing connects us with other people and the community we live in. Practicing the art of sharing also makes people more creative and involved. But apart from that, sharing is fun to do and gives a good feeling. By sharing and working together, we are able to reach goals and start projects that would otherwise never be realized.”

Shareable invites everybody to start with ‘the art of sharing’ by developing new initiatives. To motivate others, Shareable publishes a weekly newsletter with inspiring ideas and news items; connects people to local networks or helps them to establish a local network. The organization offers all those who wish to ‘share’ a platform on facebook and twitter, and on the website of Shareable you can find an events calendar. The website also contains a geographical map with sharing initiatives from all over the world.
