Conservation International

Conservation International (CI) is a global "human" non-profit organization that helps to build a healthier, more prosperous and more productive planet for everyone with the goal of protecting our food, water, climate and livelihood. CI aims at moving entire societies towards a healthier, more sustainable development path.

Don't use up today, what we are going to need tomorrow

Conservation International does not solely focus on one sector or one issue, but tries to find global solutions for global problems. Their approach is based on three elements:

  1. Protecting the places on earth and at the sea that we cannot afford to lose; the places that provide our food, water and air.
  2. Fostering effective governance by working together with governments to ensure that they have the knowledge and tools to enact policies to protect our natural wealth.
  3. Promoting sustainable production by working together with companies and industries in implementing forward-thinking policies.

Nature doesn't need people. People need nature. Our food, our water, our health, our jobs – they all rely on the health of the planet's ecosystems

From its origins as an NGO dedicated to protecting tropical biodiversity, Conservation International has evolved into an organization that works with governments, scientists, charitable foundations, businesses and universities and now has offices in more than 30 countries, more than 1,000 partner organizations and thousands of projects running worldwide. Their fieldwork includes expeditions to remote places that are the strongholds of biodiversity. CI leverages those discoveries and experience to rally public engagement and call on governments to secure the sustainable management of vast swaths of abundant, threatened ocean and sea.

Conservation International is recognized as a financially accountable and transparent organization.
