Common Welfare Economy

The Common Welfare Economy movement understands itself as an initiator and inspirational force for far-reaching change. On an economic level, the movement is developing practical alternatives which can be implemented by companies of any size and type. On a political level, the movement aspires to embed the Common Welfare Economy in a legal framework in order to guarantee the needs of all human beings, animals and for the planet.

The initiative, which is supported by organizations, politicians, private people and companies, commenced in October 2010. Since then, the movement has continually grown. In 2011, over 100 pioneers from 60 companies in three countries volunteered to be the first companies to work with the ‘Common Welfare Balance Sheet’. Towards the end of 2011, the number of pioneers has risen to 150 and more than 500 companies from 13 countries support the overall process of the Common Welfare Economy.

The Common Welfare Balance Sheet describes which factors companies and institutions must take into account. This includes factors such as ethical use of resources, money, labor and environment. At this moment the concept of the Common Welfare Economy is being deepened, disseminated and further developed in about 20 regional groups. In this way, an open-ended process can become a regionally growing movement with global resonance. At the same time, the organization tries to create synergies with similar approaches. Hence everyone is invited to support the development of a Common Welfare Economy.
